Before electricity was invented, people in the Ribera del Duero made do with what they had: snow. They dug deep pits to store it and keep cool in the summer.
That is where the name of this wine by Rubén Iglesias comes from. It isn’t just a nice phrase for the label; it is a statement of intent: to make a wine that preserves the freshness of the grape as if it were stored under snow.
What makes it special?
It comes from select vineyards that truly understand the cold. It spends 12 months in oak barrels , just enough time for the oak to give it structure without overpowering the fruit. It's a difficult balance to achieve: it has the seriousness of a Crianza but with a surprising agility on the palate.
What you’ll notice:
It’s a cherry-red wine with a very clear colour. On the nose, you’ll detect red fruits and a very subtle hint of vanilla and liquorice. It’s on the palate where the magic happens: it starts off with power but flows with a freshness that cleanses the palate. It’s persistent, yes, but it doesn’t leave your mouth as dry as a bone.
We’ve brought it to Vinocalidad because it’s the perfect wine for anyone looking for a true-to-form Ribera that’s a joy to drink.
A word of warning:
This wine isn’t produced by the million. It follows the Vega de Yuso philosophy: exceptional quality in small batches. If you visit the website and see it’s in stock, snap it up. It’s one of those wines that, when served at a dinner party, has guests asking where it came from. And as you well know, the best and rarest things don’t wait for the indecisive.
