There are wines that are drunk and wines that command respect. Tobelos Mill It's one of the latter.
Forget the idea of a classic Reserva: light and with a tobacco aroma. This is a wine with real "muscle," designed by and for those who crave intensity. It originates in Briñas, in that privileged corner of Rioja Alta where the climate and soil combine to produce a Tempranillo with a concentration that is almost frightening.
What makes it unique? It's not just the time in the barrel, it's the quality of the barrel. It spends some time in the barrel. 14 months in new French oak. That detail is key: new French oak imparts a structure and nuances of spice and toast that old or American oak can only dream of. It's a wine with a perfect "architecture"; everything is in its place.
What you'll notice in the cup: Has 14.5º very well integrated into a dense, dark body. On the nose, it's an explosion of very ripe black fruit, balsamic notes, cocoa, and a mineral background that reminds you it comes from limestone soils. On the palate, it is powerful and meaty, But with tannins so well polished they feel like velvet. It's long, complex, and evolves with every minute it spends in the glass.
It's the wine you choose when you want to make a statement. Perfect for a meal that lasts for hours, or for a gift that you know, with absolute certainty, will make you look like a true connoisseur.
A warning for impatient people: This is a wine with incredible aging potential. If you drink it today, you'll be blown away, but if you have the patience to cellar a couple of bottles for a couple of years, you'll find yourself with a true gem. As is often the case with flagship wines from boutique wineries, bottles of Tahón sell out as soon as they hit the market. Don't say we didn't warn you.
